The fairy dust WORKED!

So on the heels of a young gay man having beglittered Repugnican Tea Party presidential aspirant Newt Gingrich at a book signing in Minneapolis earlier this week, advising Gingrich to “feel the rainbow” and to “stop the hate” (see video grab above), the latest Gingrich campaign-stop snafu that they’re reporting is that Gingrich’s cell phone went off in the middle of a campaign pitch in Iowa — and that the ring tone was Abba’s “Dancing Queen.”

That’s gay enough, but Gingrich’s response to the ringing cell phone is even gayer:

“I love that sequence. The energy. The excitement,” he said of the ring tone, which was taken from the musical “Mamma Mia.”

Showtunes. Abba. “Dancing Queen.” “Mamma Mia.”

Yup. Just toe-tappin’ good fun…

Gingrich vows to plod ahead*, which makes me happy, because with campaign stories like this, it would be a crying shame for him to give up now.

*Gingrich, who is widely known for his Donald Trump-like low-self esteem, recently described his current presidential campaign as “something that happens once or twice in a century, a genuine grassroots campaign of very big ideas,” adding that he “[expects] it to take a while for it to sink in” for us mere mortals as to how momentous his current presidential campaign is.

Of his turbulent campaign startup, he helpfully, humbly explained, “Ronald Reagan’s opening week in the 1980 campaign was filled with bumps. It happens if you’re the candidate of ideas.”

‘Macaca’ redux

Associated Press photo

Repugnican monkeyshines: Above is S.R. Sidarth, the Indian-American who in August 2006 captured Repugnican U.S. Sen. George Allen of Virginia on video calling him “Macaca,” which lost Allen his Senate re-election bid and effectively ended his political career. Today, Repugnican U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt, who plans to run for a U.S. Senate seat for Missouri in 2010, apparently compared President Barack Obama to a “monkey” during a speech he gave at the Values Voters Summit in Washington, D.C. — the same gathering where last year boxes of “Obama Waffles” waffle mix were sold, replete with an Aunt-Jemima-like likeness of Obama.

In August 2006, then-U.S. Senator for Virginia George Allen, a Repugnican, of course, referred to a young American man of Indian descent as “Macaca.” In fact, Allen called the young man “Macaca” while the young man was video-recording one of Allen’s re-election campaign stump speeches. (Smart!)

Wikipedia recounts it this way:

On August 11, 2006, at a campaign stop in Breaks, Virginia, near the Kentucky border, Allen twice used the word “macaca” to refer to [Shekar Ramanuja] Sidarth, an Indian-American, who was filming the event as a “tracker” for the opposing [Democrat Jim Webb’s] campaign.

“Macaca” means “monkey” and is not a racial slur; it is generally used in Francophone African nations, which led to speculation that Allen may have heard the epithet from his mother, a Francophone who grew up in French-colonial Tunisia.

Allen apologized and later said that he did not know the meaning of the word. In 2008, The Washington Post speculated that, were it not for this single utterance, Allen would have been a strong candidate for the 2008 GOP presidential nomination.

How calling someone with brown skin and who is a member of a race that historically has been shit and pissed upon by whitey a “monkey” is not racist escapes me. And why Allen would have used a term whose meaning he didn’t even know (but just happens to mean “monkey”) also escapes me.

Another Wikipedia entry states that the word “macaca” most definitely is a racial slur, and notes that this is what Allen said to Sidarth on that fateful August 2006 day: “This fellow here, over here with the yellow shirt — Macaca, or whatever his name is. He’s with my opponent… Let’s give a welcome to Macaca here. Welcome to America and the real world of Virginia.”

Never mind that Sidarth was born and raised in Virginia, while Allen was born and raised in California; Allen so warmly welcomed Sidarth to Virginia and to the United States nonetheless.

Welcoming an American-born-and-raised citizen to America because his or her skin is brown isn’t racist? Especially when you are a stupid white man doing the welcoming?

In any case, Allen lost the 2006 U.S. Senate election to Webb — “Allen’s re-election in the 2006 [Senate] race seemed inevitable until he was brought down by [the] video that showed him using a racial epithet when talking to [the] staffer for [Webb],” Wikipedia notes — and Allen has faded into political obscurity (where he belongs) since he called the young brown-skinned man “Macaca.”

So now, Salon.com’s War Room reports that today Repugnican U.S. Rep. Roy Blunt of Missouri, yet another stupid white man, told an interesting little tale at the Values Voters Summit in Washington, D.C.:

…And then [Blunt] told a little story about a group of British soldiers who found themselves posted in a quiet part of India in the late 19th century or the early 20th century. It was, Blunt said, a “very lush, very quiet, very peaceful, very uneventful part of India.”

So the soldiers decided, without much better to do, that they’d build a golf course in the jungle. And then the story got weird. [Quoting Blunt:]

Almost from the day the first ball was hit on this golf course something happened they didn’t anticipate: monkeys would come running out of the jungle and then grab the golf balls. And if it was in the fairway, they might throw it in the rough. And if it was in the rough, they might throw it — they might throw it back at you!

And I can point to great and long detail about how many things they tried to eliminate the monkey problem, but they never got it done.

So finally for this golf course and this golf course only, they passed a rule and the rule was, you have to play the ball where the monkey throws it. And that is the rule in Washington all the time.

Yes, you read that right: the point of the story was that like British golfers, conservatives in Washington have to play the ball where the monkey throws it.

Adds the Salon.com writer:

Blunt, who’s running for [the U.S. Senate seat for] Missouri next year, didn’t explain precisely why he chose an analogy about monkeys to illustrate the difficulties posed by the party that opposes the country’s first black president. (They both like to screw up the white man’s golf game?)

You know, you don’t refer to a non-white person as a “monkey.” To call a non-white person a “monkey” is to dehumanize him or her, is to make him or her less than human, is to make him or her into an animal.

And then once you have dehumanized, animalized, him or her, you then can justify doing whatever you want to do to him or her, such as yelling “You lie!” during his or her nationally televised address to Congress — something that you’d never do to a white president.

These racists are putting their feelers out there, are testing the waters, are seeing how far they can go.

If we let their shit pass, if we let them get away with their blatantly racist bullshit, they will up the ante to the point where one of these white supremacists screaming “You lie!” at the president during a nationally televised address to Congress will be comparatively nothing.

Those of us Americans who don’t want the racist Repugnican Party to drag us even further back to the Dark Ages than the unelected Bush regime did during its eight long years of nightmarish unelected rule have a responsibility to confront racism every single fucking time one of these racist motherfuckers thinks that he or she can get away with it.

Even if it looks borderline, we have to confront it.

A Repugnican U.S. representative from South Carolina (the first state that seceded from the Union after Abraham Lincoln’s election) yelling “You lie!” at the nation’s first black president while being nationally televised: That is an act of racism.

Addison Graves (a.k.a. “Joe”) Wilson was not simply registering his differences of opinion with the Obama administration’s health-care reform ideas, as he and his ilk have since claimed. There is a time and a place for that, and it is not during the president’s nationally televised address to Congress.

Wilson’s intent, it seems to me, was to open the door for even further racist attacks upon the nation’s first black president.

George Allen didn’t call an Indian-American man “Macaca” — twice — and “macaca” just happens to mean “monkey.”

Roy Blunt didn’t tell a parable that ends with the moral that conservatives in Washington “have to play the ball where the monkey throws it” and not mean it as a reference to President Barack Obama.

“Conservative” these days pretty much means “white supremacist.”

We Americans who are not white supremacists, we Americans who form the majority who voted for Barack Obama, need to search our souls and ask ourselves if we are going to allow the white-supremacist minority to take over our nation.

P.S. Take a look at the official photos of George Allen, Addison Graves (a.k.a. “Joe”) Wilson and Roy Blunt (below, in that order):

What do they all have in common?

All three of them were born sometime from 1947 to 1952, making all three of them baby-boomer assholes, and they all are Repugnican politicians who hail from states that used to be slave states. (And, of course, they’re all stupid white men.)

Be on the lookout for men who match this profile. They’re probably motherfucking racists.

It’s not kiddie porn when the kids do it

Suddenly, “sexting” is our nation’s largest “criminal” problem. No, better to go after the corrupt judges and the other white-collar criminals who are bankrupting our nation morally as well as financially and leave the kids the fuck alone.

So there is a trend now of charging minors with kiddie porn crimes when they post to the Internet or otherwise electronically post or exchange sexually explicit images of themselves (“sexting,” this is called).

This is bullshit.

Kiddie-porn laws were meant to protect minors from predatory adultsnot to prosecute kids who engage in sexually oriented behavior with other kids.

When I was a kid (I am 41, a member of Gen X), things like “playing doctor” were considered a normal part of growing up.

Today, overzealous assbites in the “criminal” “justice” system want to prosecute minors for behavior that used to be considered a normal part of growing up.

Gee, maybe it’s because we have a “criminal” “justice” industry that, just like the military industrial complex, has gotten waaaaay out of control.

Think I’m full of shit?

A 14-year-old girl in New Jersey has been charged with the possession of and the distribution of child porn for having posted to MySpace sexually explicit images of herself. A conviction could mean that she is branded a sex offender for life.

There’s big money in convicting minors of crimes — two corrupt judges in Pennsylvania recently pleaded guilty for having taken $2.6 million in payoffs to sentence juveniles to the private juvenile detention centers that were giving them their payola. (These privately owned detention centers should be shut down as soon as possible and those who bribed the judges need to be imprisoned for their felonious behavior, and detention centers should not be privatized — but that’s another blog post for another time.)

When I used to work at the California Youth Authority, processing paperwork for incoming youthful inmates, I saw many inmates (“wards,” they euphemistically were called) whose intake files indicated that they were being locked up for sexual behavior with other minors that, in my day, would have been considered rather normal sex play between or among minors.

It’s not about justice anymore (if it ever was about justice); now, it’s about making big money by locking up people (even minors), with even judges being on the take. (Really, what have the baby boomers who run the nation touched that they haven’t corrupted?)

I admire these teenagers who are fighting back against a “criminal” “justice” system that is out of fucking control (from The Associated Press):

Scranton, Pa. – One of three teens suing a Pennsylvania prosecutor says she does not want to be bullied by the district attorney, who threatened to charge the girls over racy cell-phone pictures.

Fifteen-year-old Marissa Miller said after a federal court hearing [yesterday] that she did nothing wrong when a friend took a picture of her and another girl in their bras.

Wyoming County District Attorney George Skumanick has threatened to file child pornography or open lewdness charges against the two girls unless they participate in an after-school program.

A girl photographed topless in a separate setting is also suing. The American Civil Liberties Union is seeking a temporary restraining order on their behalf.

The judge has not ruled on the request. Skumanick says he won’t take action until after the ruling.

Gee, is the district attorney getting payola from privately owned after-school programs? You have to wonder, don’t you? (And, as a Salon.com feminist columnist points out, an image of a young woman in a bra constitutes child porn? What about young women’s clothing catalogs? Those are now kiddie-porn magazines?)

If I were the parent of a teen, no, I would not be thrilled if he or she posted sexually explicit images of him- or herself to the Internet or otherwise exchanged such images electronically.

However, if I were a parent of a minor who was charged criminally or threatened with criminal charges for such behavior, I would be absofuckinglutely livid.

Child-porn and sex-with-minors laws were (and are) meant to protect minors from predatory adults.

Just because the worthless baby boomers are in charge of the nation and the boomers didn’t have certain technology when they were teens doesn’t mean that the sexual behavior of today’s teens is any worse than was the sexual behavior of the boomers when they were teens.

People who are ignorant of today’s technology get blinded by their technological ignorance and are unable and/or unwilling to see the underlying principles. The technology that they don’t understand renders them utterly unable to reason (not that their faculty of reason ever was sound in the first place).

The boomers would have been into “sexting” too had the technology been available to them. Duh.

And those (mostly baby boomers, very apparently) who illegally profit from abusing the “criminal” “justice” system — such as the corrupt baby-boomer judges (gee, that sounds redundant) in Pennsylvania who made millions — need to experience the “criminal” “justice” system themselves. They need to spend many years inside of  a prison cell (a prison cell that is not privately owned).

Brothers and sisters, stop selling us out!

NBC/The Associated Press

I love Rachel Maddow (above); Melissa Etheridge (below), um, not so much…

Associated Press photo

So if MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is my favorite dyke* right now — and she is — then musician Melissa Etheridge is my least-favorite dyke right about now.

Etheridge wrote a surreal piece on The Huffington Post in which she wrote that Prick Warren isn’t such a bad guy after all.

Apparently Prick Warren isn’t such a bad guy because he told Etheridge that he is a fan of hers and has almost all of her CDs!

Gee! That makes the fact that he asserts that she and the rest of us gay men and lesbians should be denied our constitutionally guaranteed equal civil and human rights perfectly OK then, doesn’t it?

You know, a baby boomer is a baby boomer, and even the “good,” “liberal” baby boomers like Etheridge tend to suck ass, tend to make it all about themselves and their petty little egos, which never can be satisfied.

Etheridge asserts that Prick Warren — whom she affectionately refers to as “Pastor Rick” — ain’t so bad because he likes her work.** Her ego strokes are far more important than are the equal civil and human rights of gay men and lesbians and others who don’t fit into the heterosexist mold.

Oh, not that it’s just Etheridge’s ego strokes. She’s scheduled to attend President-elect Barack Obama’s inauguration — to which you’d have to drag my dead or unconscious body — and she probably doesn’t want to see a decline in sales of her music because of the Prick Warren flap.

Thank you, Melissa Etheridge, for (probably) putting your personal finances above my equal human and civil rights. You rock — not! (In her surreally turncoat screed on The Huffington Post, Etheridge also speaks out against boycotts; she probably fears a boycott herself…)

Not just to pick on Etheridge; there are plenty of turncoats on the guys’ side. This idiot asserts that we should push for separate and unequal civil unions instead of equal marriage rights, and this retard also suggests that we raise the white flag of surrender on same-sex marriage (apparently, you see, we can’t work on global warming and human rights at the same time, and we gay men and lesbians are stupid and/or selfish for wanting our equal human and civil rights while the global warming problem still looms!).

Memo to the turncoat fucktards: We are pretty fucking close to getting same-sex marriage reinstated in the state of California. Let’s get that done, mmmmmk? Let’s not drop the pink football on this one!

No, we are not going to get same-sex marriage in all 50 states any day soon. You are correct about that.

But you are incorrect in asserting that civil unions are the way to go. Separate is not — NOT — equal. Never was, is not, and never will be.

Once we have same-sex marriage in the nation’s most populous state, other states will follow suit. That’s the way to go — not to fucking beg for fucking scraps, but to get the real deal state by state.

And we can work on more than one issue/problem at once. Not only can we work on global warming and securing same-sex marriage rights, but we can continue to work on other rights issues for non-heterosexuals as well. (Many of us gay men and lesbians have no desire to legally marry anyone, but those same-sex couples who do wish to legally marry should be able to do so. That you are a non-heterosexual who personally has no desire to marry someone of the same sex doesn’t mean that it’s OK that others may not legally marry someone of the same sex. Duh.)

Same-sex marriage is a the central front in the war for full gay and lesbian/non-heterosexual rights. The homo-haters know this, which is why they are fighting against same-sex marriage.

If we let them win, we lose.

If you don’t have the stomach for the fight, then stay the fuck out of the fight. But don’t tell the rest of us that our fully equal human and civil rights aren’t worth fighting for.

*I’m a gay man and I love my gay sisters, so I may use the term “dyke.”

**As yet another painful example of why celebrities probably don’t make the best bloggers, Etheridge actually wrote these words: “…I received a call from Pastor Rick, and before I could say anything, he told me what a fan he was. He had most of my albums from the very first one. What? This didn’t sound like a gay hater, much less a preacher….”

Um, my naive little Melissa daaahling, I’m guessing that Adolf Hitler liked music, too…

Prick Warren speaks with forked tongue

I noticed this yesterday but didn’t comment on it at the time. I should have.

In his little “news and views” (nice euphemism for “propaganda”) video for his congregants, Prick Warren tells his congregants that he absolutely never compared same-sex marriage to incestual marriage or pedophilic marriage. He stated that his comments during his interview with Beliefnet had been taken out of context, distorted.

I had thought that maybe he was telling the truth.

But then I saw the actual video clip of his interview with Beliefnet, and yeah, it’s pretty fucking inarguable that the motherfucking liar indeed compared same-sex marriage to pedophilic and incestual marriage (and to polygamy, too; for some reason he left bestiality out…).

It’s a long video on Prick Warren — almost 15 minutes long — with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, but it’s worth watching in its entirety. Maddow rocks to the extent that Prick Warren sucks ass to the point that he should just donate his organs now so that someone else can make better use of them.

Oh, and you have to see San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, in his interview with Maddow, tap dance around the fact that in San Francisco he has to be pro-gay and lesbian in order to survive politically, but President-elect Barack Obama, like Prick Warren, publicly opposes same-sex marriage and has thrown gay men and lesbians under the bus, yet Newsom has to cozy up to the president-elect, too.

In his interview Newsom doesn’t quite make it work with Maddow, who lets him off way too easily (I guess that she wanted to be able to interview him again…), and if you have a pulse you will see that Newsom has sold his soul to the Democratic Party machine — which is why when he ran for mayor in 2003 I gave his opponent, Matt Gonzalez of the Green Party, a campaign donation even though I live in Sacramento. (Despite the fact that Newsom brought in the Democratic Party machine’s biggest guns, including Billary Clinton and Al Gore, to campaign for him, despite the fact that he outspent Gonzalez by at least 4 to 1, and despite the fact that the number of San Francisco residents registered under the Green Party was less than 5 percent, Gonzalez lost to Democratic Party hack Newsom by only single digits.)

But back to Prick Warren:

That he feels the need to bold-facedly lie to his own congregants about his hateful, ignorant, bigoted comments on same-sex marriage demonstrates that increasingly, open homophobia, just like open racism, is becoming less and less socially acceptable among polite/”polite” company.

Not that someone isn’t a homophobe because he or she doesn’t make overtly homophobic remarks.* But when the haters are in an environment that is not conducive to their hate, it’s harder for their hate to thrive.

And you know what? Lying is a sin, even if you’re a stupid white male baby-boomer pastor who has made millions of dollars from “The Secret”-like bullshit books and spin-offs. (I love how baby boomers — who have nearly destroyed the nation — write self-help and advice books, because clearly they know what they’re doing and thus we should follow them. I mean, the proof is in the pudding, no?)

And if Prick Warren will lie through his fangs to his congregants about what he said on camera, what does that say about his character?

Prick Warren is one of the false prophets that the Bible warns you about.

P.S. OK, another video clip of Rachel Maddow on Prick Warren. If you don’t want to watch the full almost-15-minute video clip that I referenced above, you can watch this shorter one (it’s under three minutes) that captures Warren’s bold-faced lie using the two clips of him side by side.

And also in this clip of Maddow’s show, Warren pretty much asserts that when his opponents voice their opposition to him, it’s “hate speech,” but that everything that he and his supporters can only be construed as wuv. Fucking hypocrite.

And it’s funny (in a deeply unsettling sort of way) when wingnuts like Prick Warren talk about how much they just wuv free speech when you know that if they could silence their detractors, they wouldn’t hesitate to do so.

In the video clips of Warren that I’ve watched, it’s pretty apparent that he claims that he “loves” gay men and lesbians only because the Bible instructs that we all must love one another, and that he advocates free speech only because it’s enshrined in the U.S. Constitution. Warren very apparently does not feel the spirit of love or the spirit of free speech within his being, and it’s only written codes, apparently, that stop him from expressing what’s truly in his heart, which is hatred and violence (silencing your opponents falls under violence, in my book).

I mean, if the wingnuts could alter the U.S. Constitution to strip their opponents of free-speech rights, do you think that they’d hesitate for a fucking heartbeart to do so? With Proposition 8, the wingnuts tried to strip gay men and lesbians of their equal human and civil rights guaranteed to them by the California Constitution. (The Repugnican-dominated California Supreme Court, which in May ruled that the California Constitution guarantees the right to same-sex marriage, will, I surmise, strike down Proposition 8 as California’s attorney general, among others, has asked the court to do.)

Last but certainly not list, in this second video clip of Maddow’s show, Warren also uses the term “Christophobia” to describe his opponents. Let me set the lying, motherfucking false prophet straight (so to speak…) on that:

If “Christians” of Warren’s ilk actually followed the teachings of Jesus Christ, I’d love them to death. See, I’ve actually read the New Testament, and Jesus Christ says not a single fucking word on the topic of homosexuality. The “Christo”fascists pull all of their homophobic rhetoric from the Old Testament, because the Old Testament is full of ignorance and fear, and thus the “Christo”fascists gravitate to the Old Testament. (About the only thing they like about the New Testament is the Book of Revelations, which, like the Old Testament, is chock full o’ ignorance and fear, and which has nothing to do with Jesus Christ, but which was fabricated long after his death.)

Now, to me, if you are a Christian, that means that you actually follow the teachings of Jesus Christ, who taught things like love and acceptance — true love and acceptance, not the kind of “love and acceptance” in which you try to strip gay men and lesbians of their constitutionally guaranteed equal civil and human rights and/or assert that they’re (probably) going to hell — but still claim that you wuv them nonetheless.

Jesus Christ was not like a red-state fucktard (boy, that’s redundant). Jesus Christ was a flaming liberal, a progressive radical:

Che jesus.jpg

from Wikipedia.org

Jesus Christ rocked.

I’m not a “Christophobe.” I’m a pseudoprophetophobe.

I don’t hate Jesus Christ or true Christians, who are exceedingly rare. I hate false prophets like Prick Warren, who claim that when you attack them for their evil you are attacking Jesus Christ — because the Prick Warrens of the world, in their arrogance and in their blasphemy, compare themselves to God and to Jesus Christ, when, in fact, they paradoxically are about as anti-Christian as you can get.

*My maternal grandmother, who waited far too long to die, was a huge fucking racist who knew that it was politically incorrect to make overtly racist comments in “polite”/polite company. But her racist views were glaringly apparent nonetheless from her “nice” racist statements.

Resign, baby-boomer asshole!

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich speaks during a rally in Chicago ...

Reuters photo

Only a baby boomer would be as thoroughly disgraced as is Illinois Gov. Rod “Senate Seat for $ale” Blahblahblahblahblah yet still refuse to resign.

I hate baby-boomer assholes.

It’s all about them, them, them.

Far too many baby-boomer politicians see politics not as a way to advance the common good, but as a way to advance their own personal interests.

George W. Bush — who, although utterly unqualified and not even elected, rose to the highest governmental post in the nation — has been the poster boy for the boomers, but Gov. Blahblahblahblahblah is at a close No. 2.

I hope that he sees the inside of a prison cell like his Repugnican predecessor.
