This is the new face of the Repugnican Party. There will be nothing to fear for the next two years, because these people are way too fucktarded not only to govern adequately, but even to play politics effectively.
News stories like these abound lately:
Repugnican U.S. Rep.-elect George Santos, among his many, many other lies, apparently claimed that his mother, who died in 2016, was a victim of 9/11. (She died of cancer, apparently, so if his “argument” is that 9/11 somehow caused the cancer, even though she wasn’t there when it happened, he has acknowledged, then he needs some proof of that; otherwise, it’s just yet another of his endless biographical lies, many of which are just fucking pointless.)
And, delightfully, the White House has refused to respond to demands for information from Repugnican U.S. Reps. Jim Jordan and James Comer because, the White House correctly points out, while these two traitors plan to head certain House committees next year, it’s not next year yet, and so they’re not the heads of those committees yet.
Therefore, their demands for information from the White House were premature, which is not shocking, as we could expect Repugnican-fascists to be premature ejaculators, shooting their loads in a frantic frenzy way before it’s time.
Anyway, Politico reports today:
The Biden White House launched its first major broadside in response to incoming House Republicans likely to spearhead aggressive oversight of the administration.
A top lawyer for the president pledged in letters to those members that the administration would operate in good faith with them. But he also said that oversight demands made by congressional Republicans during the last Congress would have to be started over.
In respective letters to Reps. James Comer (R-Ky) and Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), White House Special Counsel Richard Sauber said that the Biden administration had no immediate plans to respond to a slew of records requests that both men made the past several weeks.
In those letters, obtained exclusively by POLITICO, Sauber described such requests as constitutionally illegitimate because both Jordan, who is expected to chair the House Judiciary Committee, and Comer, who is expected to head the Oversight Committee, made them before they had any authority to do so.
“Congress has not delegated such [oversight] authority to individual members of Congress who are not committee chairmen, and the House has not done so under its current Rules,” wrote Sauber, one of the White House’s top oversight lawyers. …
This response from the White House is entirely fair and entirely logical.
It’s cute to see what eager beavers the Repugnican-fascists are in trying to take down Joe Biden in advance of the November 2024 presidential election, but they need to put it back into their big-boy pants until it’s an appropriate time — that is, when they actually have the constitutional and legal authority to issue such demands of the White House.
And of course Gym Jordan and James Premature Comer admitted their mistake and backtracked, right?
No, of course fucking not.
Premature Comer issued this Orwellian/fascist statement:
President Biden promised to have the most transparent administration in history but at every turn the Biden White House seeks to obstruct congressional oversight and hide information from the American people. Just before dawn at 4:33 a.m., the White House informed us they will not provide the answers we have been seeking for the American people on important issues such as the border and fentanyl crises, the energy crisis, botched Afghanistan withdrawal, COVID origins, and the Biden family’s influence peddling. Why is the Biden Administration hiding this information? Republicans are undeterred by the Biden Administration’s obstruction and will continue pressing for the answers, transparency, and accountability that the American people deserve.
No mention, conveniently, of the White House’s clearly stated reason for its refusal to comply with these two jackasses’ premature demands for information: The jackasses don’t have the authority on behalf of the House committees to make such demands — because they’re not yet in charge of those committees.
But rather than admit a major political and constitutional mistake, let’s just lie that the case is that the Biden administration just will not cooperate with any investigations, period.
This is how the Repugnicans roll: They. Lie. Even to — probably especially to — their own mouth-breathing supporters.
Speaking of liars, yes, George Santos’ pants aren’t just on fire; they are in nuclear meltdown. (Speaking of Santos, yet another fun fact about him, and a knee-slapper, too: He called Joe Biden “a pathological liar.”)
And, of course, Repugnican House “leadership” is being awfully quiet about Santos, since they need every body on their side of the aisle that they can keep. The Hill reports:
Rep.-elect George Santos (R-N.Y.) has put Republicans in a pickle: How do party leaders deal with his fabrications and misrepresentations without jeopardizing their slim majority or setting a precedent?
The answer so far, for the most part, is to say nothing and let Santos speak for himself — and perhaps to let voters decide Santos’ fate in 2024.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.), National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chairman Tom Emmer (Minn.) and House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (N.Y.) have not commented on the revelations surrounding Santos’s background and falsehoods.
The reality is that a slim incoming majority of 222 GOP seats to 212 Democratic seats and one vacancy leaves Republicans little political incentive to come down hard on Santos, as they might need his vote to pass their priorities.
And McCarthy, who is facing opposition from a handful of hard-line House Republicans threatening to sink his Speaker bid, may need Santos’ vote to secure the Speakership on Jan. 3. Santos expressed support for McCarthy for Speaker in a tweet last week that has since been deleted.
McCarthy did not answer questions about Santos in the Capitol last week, and House GOP leaders did not respond to or comment on Santos on Wednesday. …
So there you have it: The House Repugnicans are imploding even before they’ve officially taken over the chamber.
And to the extent that George Santos is a fucking pathological liar on crack — Hey, he was just following former “President” Pussygrabber’s perfidious example, was he not? — the Repugnicans are incredibly fucking tone deaf: The American voters just last month soundly rejected the Repugnicans’ agenda of cray-cray, lies, meanness and chaos, yet already the Repugs have teed up two more years of exactly the same old shit that we, the voters, just fucking told them that we fucking hate.
If the Repugnicans actually manage to keep the House in their control for the next two full years, they’ll definitely lose it come January 2025.
