Something wonderful just might rise from the ashes of the United States

Antifa in USA

“President” Pussygrabber opposes the people who oppose neo-Nazism because he’s a fucking neo-Nazi himself. Our fascist overlords are paper tigers, however; because they are parasites on the rest of us, all that we have to do is rise up, refuse to allow them continue to suck our lifeblood, and they’ll fall like the house of cards that they are. They know this, and it terrifies the shit out of them that the game might, this time, finally, be up.

The looting and vandalism that has taken place in numerous Americans cities over the past several days — including my own — at first blush probably looks to many if not even most Americans as pretty senseless.

It would appear, superficially at least, that there is no logical line from the cruel, slow murder by cop of George Floyd in Minneapolis last Monday to the looting and vandalism of (mostly) small and larger businesses throughout the nation, but the line is there.

You just have to flush out all of the dust from your eyes that the capitalists put there with years and years and years of their profits-and-property-over- people propaganda, aided and abetted not only by the corporately owned and controlled “news” media doing the bidding of the corporations and of the corporatocrats, but also by our corporately owned and controlled elected (and “elected”) officials, from the local level all the way up to the White House.

Looting and vandalism seem like desperate acts, but the cruel, unjust, dog-eat-dog American socioeconomic system naturally, inevitably produces an awful lot of desperate people.

History suggests that a majority of Americans won’t learn a fucking thing from what’s going on now — the ongoing nationwide novel coronavirus pandemic as well as the nationwide unrest caused by a bad white cop who didn’t cause all of this, but who definitely lit the fuse — and that the American impulse will be to try to sweep all of this unpleasantness under the national rug and pretend that none of this ugliness had ever happened.

I mean, fuck, the coronavirus is still doing its killing, but after not even a full three months of a nationwide shutdown (it’s been more like a slowdown than a complete shutdown, but still), already a huge chunk, if not the majority, of Americans want to pretend that the coronavirus thing is all over already and open up the nation again — which is going to have quite predictable results.

Property destruction in the wake of another murder by cop seems appropriate to me. Maybe in the past I’d have questioned the logic of it, but it is clear to me now.

Why? Because the upper classes constantly give the message to the lower classes* that the property of the former is far more valuable than are the very lives of the latter.

No, the upper crust don’t come out and say that that is their belief, but their words and actions, repeated year after year after year, make it clear that that is their belief nonetheless.

So, if our lives are so expendable and “your” property (which our labor and our common natural resources have made possible in the first place!) is all that you care about, then we’ll go after “your” property, the message of the looting and the vandalism is, whether we are willing to acknowledge that or not.

All of this — the nationwide coronavirus pandemic, the protests that are roiling the nation right now — are identifying for us, starkly, our long-standing national problems, and the solutions are just one step behind our identification of and acknowledgment of the problems.

Ironically, actually solving even our entrenched problems probably isn’t the biggest hurdle — it’s acknowledging them in the first fucking place that is the biggest hurdle, because with such genuine, widespread acknowledgment would follow a radical reordering of the socioeconomic order that those at the top have been doing their best to stave off for generations. They even put a considerable chunk of their fortunes — I say “their” fortunes, but, again, since they stole “their” fortunes from the rest of us, they’re our fortunes — toward maintaining their unfair socioeconomic and political advantage.

(These plutocrats and oligarchs pour billions of dollars into pro-corporate propaganda that’s pumped to us masses en masse every fucking day, and they give billions of dollars to corrupt elected officials who are supposed to do the bidding of the people but who instead do the bidding of their highest corporate bidders.

And, of course, the plutocrats and the oligarchs spend quite a lot of money [again, our money, since they stole it from us by reaping the benefits of our labor while we try to survive from paycheck to paycheck] on personal security [including having the “people’s” cops and the “people’s” military in their own rich, right-wing pockets] and ensuring that in their day-to-day activities they have as absolutely little actual contact with us dalits as possible.)

You know that the recent nationwide protests are working, because “President” Pussygrabber, the Looter in Chief, now proclaims that he is deeming antifa a “terrorist organization.”**

Clearly, this would be just the first step in the unhinged, fascist “president” declaring all of his political detractors to be “terrorists” when he and his right-wing, fascist ilk, of course, are the actual terrorists, just as they are the actual looters.

And, of course, our “president” opposes an anti-fascist group only because he’s a fucking fascist himself.

Hitler and his supporters did all that they could do eliminate their domestic political opposition, too, before they expanded their reign of terror.

We’ve seen this playbook before.

It’s up to us to make sure that history doesn’t repeat itself this time. American fascism must be stopped in its tracks.

It probably will get ugly, but what emerges from the ashes just might be wonderful.

That’s why I still say: Let it burn.

P.S. I would be remiss if I did not note that the pro-corporate Democratic Party establishment is guilty as sin, too, of course.

The people — you know, we dalits — had hope in actual Democrat (that is, the actually progressive) Bernie Sanders actually becoming president and helping to turn the Titanic around, but the pro-corporate Democratic Party establishment hacks, always only ever looking out for themselves like the fucking traitors that they are, made damn sure that they torpedoed Bernie (by coalescing right before Super Tuesday) — and they gave us, in Bernie’s stead, the utterly uninspiring corporate whore Joe Biden, who barely can speak a coherent sentence (but who at least by now, hopefully, finally at least has learned to keep his nasty hands to himself).

We, the people, were just supposed to sit down and shut up about the fact that the party that is supposed to stand for the people fucked us, the people, over yet once again, like Lucy with the football on crack.

This time, we, the people, are not just sitting down and shutting up like the good little sheep that we’re supposed to be.

*To be clear, by “class” here I mean strictly income level and the level of possession of wealth, not the level of one’s character.

Most wealthy Americans are of low character — it disturbs them not that their excess comes at the expense of those who don’t have the basic necessities of life — and many if not most Americans who are struggling to get by are of high character (because if nothing else, they — we — should have brought out the guillotines a long, long time ago, but we have yet to do so).

**As with most of the vile things that “our” vile “president” threatens to do, he does not have the legal authority to unilaterally designate entire swaths of American citizens as “terrorists.” Politico notes today:

President Donald Trump tweeted [today] that the U.S. government would be “designating ANTIFA as a Terrorist Organization.”

There were just two problems with that. First, he doesn’t appear to have the legal authority to do so. And second, it’s by no means clear the loosely defined group of radical activists is an organization at all.

The Trump administration’s push to crack down on antifa — short for “anti-fascist” — comes as large and small businesses in a host of American cities were looted and vandalized as people protested the death of a black man, George Floyd, at the hands of a white police officer in Minneapolis.

The president and his top officials, including Attorney General Bill Barr and national security adviser Robert O’Brien, have blamed antifa for violence and property damage. In an on-camera statement Saturday, Barr said the Justice Department wouldn’t hesitate to prosecute people who crossed state lines to participate in violence, citing his authorities under anti-riot legislation.

Barr did not invoke laws against terrorism, which do not let the U.S. government designate purely homegrown groups as terrorist organizations.

Under current law, the State Department can designate foreign organizations as terrorist groups. But the U.S. has no domestic terrorism statute, and the FBI uses other legal authorities to prosecute domestic terrorism here. … [Emphasis mine.]

This is why you don’t “elect” as “president” an abject fucking retard who has not held high office before, at least as the governor of a state, as a U.S. senator or as vice president.

Pussygrabber clearly has no idea of — and certainly has no respect for — what the U.S. Constitution allows and disallows him to do. Had he had any experience in high elected office before, he might fucking know something about the constitutionally instituted limitations on the power of any U.S. official, including, and probably especially, the president.

Instead, Pussygrabber has treated the presidency as just an extension of his corporate kingdom, over which he is the undisputed and absolute monarch.

The United States of America is not a fucking monarchy and we’ll never allow it to become one.

If Mad King Pussygrabber knew his very basic U.S. history, he would know that much.

Yes, LET’S shoot the looters!

The actual looters look like this...

“President” Pussygrabber — a constitutional law scholar as well as a medical doctor — tweeted today of Minneapolis that “when the looting starts, the shooting starts.”

The fact that it would be patently illegal to shoot a looter who was not, say, pointing a gun at you or actively shooting others, aside, it’s not like our murderous thug-cops need even more encouragement from the “president,” is it?

Pussygrabber and I would define a looter very differently, however.

Take a look at this graph regarding income inequality in the United States from Vox:

View image on Twitter

Information, including graphs, on the beyond-insane, baby-boomer-induced income inequality in the United States is quite abundant on the Internet.

I must ask: Who, exactly, is really looting whom? And who has been doing this brazen looting for decades now?

I was thinking more of us revolutionary rabble using the guillotine again, but I agree with the “president”: Let’s shoot the looters! Now!

Minneapolis burning

Hiawatha Avenue in Minneapolis during a third night of protests.
Associated Press news photo

I can’t find it within myself to criticize what the protesters are doing in Minneapolis in reaction to yet another murder of an unarmed black man by a white cop (see example photo above).

Human life is far, far more valuable than is property (and money), and the powers that be are fucking lucky if mere property destruction is all that happens to them after what happened to George Floyd in Minneapolis on Monday (and after what happens to the perpetually downtrodden people of this “Christian,” capitalist nation every fucking day*).

I mean, we’re way past guillotine time.

George Floyd, who died Monday after being pinned to the ground by an officer who pressed a knee into his neck.

The video is chilling (another video is here): George Floyd (pictured above), who was 46 years old and whose alleged crime was trying to pass counterfeit currency (which, it seems to me, you could do quite unknowingly), pleads that he cannot breathe as a white thug-cop has his knee planted firmly on Floyd’s neck, pinning Floyd to the ground.

Bystanders are loudly voicing their concern for Floyd’s medical well-being to the cops, but the cops ignore them. (You’d think that the cops had fucking learned something after the 2014 murder of 43-year-old black man Eric Garner, who also pleaded “I can’t breathe” as he was choked to death by a white thug-cop — for allegedly having illegally sold cigarettes on the street.) Before long, Floyd’s body is lifeless and then put on a gurney, and in the video footage it appears to me that perhaps his bladder apparently had emptied itself involuntarily because of the trauma.

Here is a screen grab from the video footage of Floyd’s murder:

Getty Images news image

The murderer, one 44-year-old Derek Chauvin (who certainly puts the Chauvin in chauvinist), who is white (of course), obviously is a bad cop — who was aided and abetted by his cop colleagues who could have prevented Floyd’s murder but who did not and who thus are accessories to his murder.

Look how casual and comfortable Chauvin appears to be as he snuffs the life out of Floyd, even with his hand in his pocket, and please give me some credible evidence that it’s ever OK for a cop to restrain someone like this, especially when the individual is unarmed and, as the video footage shows, already handcuffed.

Some of the images coming out of Minneapolis in reaction to Floyd’s sickening murder by bad cop are great.

Here is what happened to a police station:

Protesters took over the Third Police Precinct in Minneapolis on Thursday night.
Reuters news photo

And here, cops protect the home of Chauvin, who is the “man” who is the least worth protecting on the entire fucking planet:

New York Times news photo

Look at the resources that the fascist, mostly white and mostly white-supremacist cops (all of them in the photo above appear to be white) will use to protect one of their own, even if he’s a fucking murderer.

So much for “law and order” and “to protect and to serve.” Law and order is something that only we serfs are supposed to respect — the elites and their protectors, including the cops — are exempt from the law and from order, and the cops protect and serve only each other and their plutocratic overlords.

All of the fallout from Floyd’s murder is the fault of corrupt cops who are drunk on their own power, enabled by the elite and even egged on by our fascist, white-supremacist “president” (after all, he thinks that the fascist cops will protect him if he tries to remain in the White House after it’s time for him to fucking leave).

If the cops didn’t routinely murder people, especially unarmed black men who pose no real danger to them, these protests wouldn’t happen. So shut the fuck up about property damage while you don’t give a fuck how many people, mostly people of color and poor people, the cops physically abuse and even murder.

Clearly, previous protests over murders by cops haven’t worked, so don’t claim that the people just need to protest peacefully and things then magically will improve.

No, not until the powers that be finally are rattled to their core — not until they get a big taste of the horrors that they routinely inflict upon others without a second thought — can real, lasting change ever occur.

At this point, there’s really only one thing left to say:

Burn. It. Down.

*The novel coronavirus pandemic has revealed so much about the United States of America, not just how its for-profit health-care wealth-care system is entirely unequipped to deal with a nationwide public-health crisis because it’s only been geared toward profiteering, and how working-class Americans intentionally are kept only one paycheck away from destitution in order to keep us in line, but also how casually Americans are willing to sacrifice the lives of their fellow Americans to the golden calf of capitalism by demanding that we reopen everything and go back to what we call “normal” — the consequences of a potentially lethal virus be damned.

Similarly, look at how so many Americans, most of whom claim to be “Christians,” pathologically see nothing wrong with black men being essentially summarily executed for such relatively minor alleged crimes as passing a counterfeit bill and unlawfully selling cigarettes. This is way beyond sick.

Tyranny of the minority will not stand

I’ve been waiting to use this great meme for a while now. Now is the time. The right-wing, batshit-crazy push to prematurely open up the nation’s churches (and other public spaces) during a lethal pandemic exemplifies this meme.

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.

But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Matthew 6:5-6:6

Gee, was Jesus Christ himself for social distancing and for staying at home to pray?

I say that only in half-jest. Indeed, today’s “Christians” rarely actually follow the teachings of Jesus Christ as they readily are available in black and white in the New Testament.

Indeed, today’s “Christians” — at least the “President” Pussygrabber-loving kind — are the demonic that they claim that they oppose. They certainly have a death fetish if not a death wish.

Despite a plethora of church attendees and church officials already having contracted and having become ill or having died from the novel coronavirus, the “Christians” and their “leader,” “President” Pussygrabber, are demanding that all of the nation’s places of worship be opened up immediately.

Pussygrabber is wrong about just about everything and represents only the minority, wackadoodle viewpoint on just about everything, including “treating” the novel coronavirus with a household disinfectant and with bright light somehow introduced inside the body. (Maybe just shove a very bright flashlight up in there?)

Of course, for Pussygrabber, everything these days is about his “re”-election*, such as his jihad against voting by mail, even though voting by mail is supported by almost two-thirds of Americans and will go on nonetheless at least in those states that are not paralyzed by anti-voting Repugnican “leaders,”** since Pussygrabber has zero legal authority to prohibit voting by mail anywhere in the United States.

Pussygrabber is pushing for the re-opening of churches right now — something else that he has zero legal authority to do — only because he wants the churchgoers’ votes in November. He is perfectly OK with many “Christians” dying from the coronavirus, because all that is important to him is his “re”-election. Marinate on that fact for a while.

To me, ever since January 2017 it’s been like we don’t even have a president at all. It’s like a vacancy in the White House. I mean that entirely. And, of course, in the most important sense of what a president should be, should not be, should do and should not do, we do have a vacancy, a gaping vacancy, in the Oval Office.

I believe that people who believe in God — and it’s almost always a God who hates everyone they hate and who likes everyone they like, and otherwise always agrees perfectly with them on everything, isn’t it? — range from being incredibly immature and gullible to being mentally ill, but I do believe in the First Amendment right to believe whatever cray-cray you want to believe; it’s the item in the Bill of Rights that Americans seem to exercise the most.

A right that Americans do not possess, however, is the “right” to harm others. The Second Amendment allows you the right to own a firearm for your own actual self-protection; it does not grant you the right to go around shooting people with whom you might have any issue or dispute.

Similarly, the First Amendment allows you to gather for religious purposes, but what happens if by so doing, you endanger all of those around you with a potentially lethal infectious disease? Is your “right” to infect other people with a potentially deadly pathogen absolute?

No, when it comes to the prevention of the spreading of illness and death, your constitutional rights that certainly are protected under normal circumstances may be — and should be — curtailed. You have rights, we all have rights, but it’s not actually all about you. You are a social creature, and your actions and your inaction routinely affect others.

But how great it feels to pretend that one is standing up for Jesus Christ and for God and for freedom and for liberty, blah blah blah, against that

But we don’t have modern-day martyrs. We have modern-day dipshits. A true martyr would care about not sickening or even killing others. Today’s “Christians” don’t give a fuck about that at all. They are, as I have said, in a word, demonic.

And what these demons want is total control over the United States of America. They want theocracy — their theocracy, a “Christo”fascist theocracy — as much as if not even more than do those who supposedly want to impose “Sharia law” on the United States of America.

Yes, this nationwide shutdown does suck. It affects all of us in some ways to different degrees. But thus far, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we’ve had about 1.6 million apparently confirmed cases of infection with the novel coronavirus, and we are approaching 100,000 deaths from the virus.

Many more Americans will continue to die of the novel coronavirus, whose future course is unknown, and if you want a comparison, each year for the past decade, an average of about 37,000 Americans have died from the flu.

So while no, the novel coronavirus’ body count thus far has not been like that of the plagues that decimated huge swaths of the populace in world history, the novel coronavirus is not just like the flu. The flu, with rare exceptions, such as the 1918 flu pandemic, doesn’t wipe out this many people.

There is, therefore, not just a public-health justification for trying to impede the transmission of the novel coronavirus, but there is a public-health obligation to do so.

From what I can tell, the batshit-crazy “Christians” (redundant…) in the United States are too few in number to do much more than ludicrously claim to be persecuted “Christians,” you know, just like in the days when Christians were tossed to the lions.

Their deluded fantasies of being able to use national catastrophes like 9/11 and the novel coronavirus pandemic for instituting their own brand of theocracy on the entire nation are just that: deluded fantasies.

But, should these “Christo”fascists ever actually pose a threat, we can fight the coronavirus and these nasty viruses who call themselves “Christians.”

I might say that I’d be happy for the “Christians” to give each other a lethal disease by refusing to take sensible precautions — I remember how giddy most of these “Christians” have been over us gay men having died from AIDS (just like Jesus Christ taught them to be!) — but it won’t be only the “Christo”fascists who will be infected with the coronavirus should the nation’s churches return to business as usual right now. (And it sure is a business, isn’t it?) It will be probably tens of thousands of innocent people dying, too.

We, the majority of Americans, who aren’t batshit-crazy “Christians,”*** have the right not to allow a minority to cause actual harm to the rest of us. Our constitutional, human right to stay alive and well supersedes the “right” to infect others with a potentially lethal virus.

*To me, if you didn’t win the popular vote, as Pussygrabber did not and as George W. Bush did not before him, then your entire “presidency” is illegitimate.

Democracy means that only the candidate who won the most votes should fill that office. Otherwise, it means nothing.

**To clarify, the Repugnicans just don’t want you to vote if you have a propensity to vote for Democratic candidates. They’re A-OK with you if you’re going to vote for them.

***Per Wikipedia, only 6 percent to 35 percent of Americans are evangelical “Christians,” but I’ll be generous and go with Gallup’s finding that 41 percent of Americans say they are.

That’s still a minority of 41 percent of Americans to a majority of 59 percent of Americans.

The majority must rule again in the United States of America — including having a president who is elected only by an actual majority of the American people. (Yes, the Electoral College must go.)

Self-serving fraudster Pussygrabber keeps lying about voting by mail

I have been voting by mail happily for years, and the democracy-hating, voter-suppressing Repugnican traitors (redundant) will have to pry my vote-by-mail ballot from my cold, dead fingers.

For obvious reasons, the president of the United States, whether we have a legitimate one or an illegitimate one, such as we have an illegitimate one now, has very limited legal authority over our elections, which are governed by federal and state laws and in which disputes generally are handled by the courts, certainly not by someone who is on the fucking ballot.

The person who stands to benefit very personally from how our elections are conducted has no business dictating how our elections should be conducted in order to benefit him- or herself. Duh.

So to see “President” Pussygrabber repeatedly falsely claim that it is illegal for the states to send all voters a vote-by-mail ballot for their optional use makes me further think of the unelected Pussygrabber as no different from a third-world right-wing tinpot dictator. Brazil has nothing on us.

The fact is that five states already send every registered voter a vote-by-mail ballot: Oregon, Washington, Hawaii, Colorado and Utah. My understanding is that all of these states do provide in-person voting for those who demand or genuinely require it, but that voters who vote in person might have to travel farther than they wish and/or might have to wait in line to vote longer than they wish.

If it truly were illegal for a state merely to send every registered voter a vote-by-mail ballot, the courts would have stopped the practice by now.* Duh. Jesus fuck, Pussygrabber’s pathological lies are so obviously pathological fucking lies.

What the impeached-but-only-still-in-office-because-of-the-treasonous-Repugnicans-in-the-U.S.-Senate “President” Pussygrabber is trying to do, of course, is to rig the 2020 presidential election just like he and his henchpeople did their best to rig the 2016 presidential election.

Pussygrabber hates voting by mail (although he does it himself — because of course) because, in his own words, he believes that it benefits Democrats at Repugnicans’ expense (the experts say that this is not truebecause of course).

The 50 states have wide latitude over how they set their elections- and voting-related laws, as long as they don’t violate any federal laws. The average American probably would be shocked by the differences in the laws from state to state, such as how in Maine and Vermont you may vote even if you’re a felon still in prison, yet in several red states you may not vote if you’ve ever had a felony conviction in your past at all, regardless of your current status.

(I might argue that for fairness and consistency, the states’ elections- and voting-related laws should all be the same, but whose model are we to adopt, then? The voter-suppressing, anti-democratic red-state model or the voter-friendly, democracy-loving blue-state model?)

It is incredibly irresponsible, at the bare minimum, for the “president” of the United States of America — which, on paper, anyway, still is a democracy — to repeatedly claim that voting by mail is illegal and that it is ripe for fraud. Both claims are patently false, and they won’t actually magically become true the more that Propagandist in Chief Pussygrabber repeats them.

There is no shade of gray here: The treasonous Pussygrabber yet once again is lying out of his fucking trumphole for his own personal and political gain at our expense.

If Pussygrabber keeps his blatantly fascist bullshit up, I just might have to hold my nose, take an antiemetic and vote for Repugnican Lite Joe Biden in November — by mail, of course.

*Here in California, by the way, 15 of the state’s 58 counties send a vote-by-mail ballot to every voter in the county (and, as I mentioned, they also provide in-person voting, although voters might have to travel farther than they have had to in the past, and might have to wait to vote a little longer than they have had to in the past).

In California the counties may decide whether or not to send every voter a vote-by-mail ballot; it’s voluntary for the counties, except for the recent governor’s order that requires all of the state’s counties to mail every registered voter a ballot for the November election because of the coronavirus pandemic (since we can’t know what in-person voting opportunities will look like in November if the pandemic really flares up and significantly fewer people are willing to work as poll workers, as recently happened in Wisconsin).

The trend is that over time, more and more of California’s counties will choose to automatically mail every registered voter a ballot — just like the five other states that already do so.

Biden’s veep pick should be Latina

Image may contain Clothing Apparel Catherine Cortez Masto Suit Coat Overcoat Human Person Jacket Blazer and Female
Getty Images news photo

If it were up to me, probably U.S. Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada, the first Latina ever elected to the U.S. Senate, would be Joe Biden’s running mate.

Hidin’ Joe Biden already has said that he’ll pick a woman as his running mate. He can’t go back on that.

The race for the second spot on the 2020 Democratic presidential ticket now, apparently, is over which race should be represented.

If we’re going to go there with race — and I make my electoral decisions based upon such things as the candidates’ policy proposals and voting records (their race and other demographics are further down on my list) — then Biden’s running mate should be Latina.

It rankles me that while we have had a black president — and not that long ago — we have yet to have a Latinx president or vice president, but many if not even most black Americans pretty much incredibly selfishly are acting like if Biden doesn’t pick a black running mate, they’ll just scoop up their marbles and go home.

After all, we’ve been told innumerable times, black women are “the backbone of the Democratic Party.” (Not that that assertion entirely ignores and/or degrades the work of all of the others who have helped the party. Not that it even at least edges on being racist, ironically.)

Yet Latinos are, and for years have been, the largest non-white racial group in the United States of America. Blacks for years now have been the second largest non-white racial group in the U.S.

Yes, I believe in representation in a (supposedly) representative democracy — and Latinos haven’t yet been represented at all in the White House or in the vice presidency. If we’re going to make it about race, then it’s their turn.

It is beyond tiresome that so many discuss race in the United States of America in purely binary terms: black and/or white. Latinos, Asians, Native Americans and others who are not black or white routinely are left out of the conversation entirely. This is bullshit.

Black Americans are entitled to representative democracy and they are entitled to have their voices heard within the party and within the nation in proportion to their numbers.

But so are all of the other racial groups, and so what is it going to be? Whites and blacks oppressing and suppressing all of the other racial groups in the name of the false racial binary of black and/or white?

Regardless of whom he chooses as his running mate, I still don’t see myself being able to vote for corporate whore Joe Biden in November. I’d be glad if he chose a Latina as his running mate, however, because that would be fair and representative (and an historic first), but the Democratic Party elites never will change their game if we pee-ons keep selling ourselves out and rolling over for them, presidential election after presidential election, and that’s why I can’t see myself voting for Biden. We’re way past the time for some tough love.

I, for one, continue to Just say no to selling my soul to the so-called Democratic Party, even if that means that “President” Pussygrabber gets a second term — which we need to make into the Democratic Party’s problem, not the people’s problem.*

It’s called tough love for a fucking reason.

P.S. Catherine Cortez Masto and the inexplicably apparent favorite for Biden’s veep pick, U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris of California, have at least two things in common: both were elected to the U.S. Senate in 2016, and each had been the attorney general of her state before ascending to the U.S. Senate.

Cortez Masto is the first Latina to have been elected to the U.S. Senate, while Harris is the second black woman to have been elected to the Senate, after Carol Moseley Braun.

*OK, that might sound a little cryptic, so let me clarify: The Democratic Party long has acted as though we, the people, owe the party. It’s been one-way like this for decades now. (I’ll never forget the awful propaganda campaign asking us if we had Barack Obama’s back. Um, wasn’t he supposed to have had our backs?)

The Democratic Party instead should actually fucking earn the support of the people — not take it for granted, and not believe in perpetuity that of course we progressives (we actual Democrats) will vote for the Democrats, no matter fucking what, because we have nowhere else to go.

We always have another option. You just might not like it, and that’s too fucking bad.

Say his name: Ahmaud Arbery was lynched in Georgia in February

Ahmaud Arbery, 25 years old, was lynched in Georgia in February, and we might never have heard of his lynching if some video footage of it had not emerged.

I don’t believe in using inflammatory racial language, such as the word “lynching,” lightly.

For example, in late January 2019 my U.S. Sen. Kamala Harris referred to the then-fresh Jussie Smollett case as “an attempted modern-day lynching.” She might have waited a bit before she made that proclamation, which very apparently turned out to be very much not the case.

There is no other word that I can think of, though, for what happened to Ahmaud Arbery, the 25-year-old black man who was shot down in the street in broad daylight by a white man and his white son in Brunswick, Georgia, on February 23, which we apparently are hearing about now only because some video taken by a witness of the incident has emerged.

It is not clear to me which one or if both of the men arrested for the crime, 64-year-old Gregory McMichael and his 34-year-old son Travis McMichael, shot and killed Arbery, but their story, even if true, is bullshit.

The McMichaels’ story is that they believed that Arbery was the suspect in neighborhood burglaries. Therefore, they pursued him, with firearms in their possession.

How the fuck does this story exculpate them in any way?

Even if Arbery were indeed a neighborhood burglar — it is believed that he was simply jogging in the neighborhood, not running away because he was a criminal — you don’t get to chase down someone you believe committed or might have committed a crime (or was about to commit a crime or might do so in the future) and then execute him or her on the fucking spot. You call the fucking police.

Because Arbery was black and very apparently unarmed and had not threatened anyone with any harm, and because he was killed by vigilantes who did not kill him in anything remotely like self-defense, he was killed primary because of his race — he was, in a word, lynched.

This is what happened in the “good old days” in the South (and elsewhere within the U.S., but mostly in the South): Whites would accuse a black person, usually a male, of some crime, and then apprehend and publicly kill him. Maybe the individual had committed a crime or not; that didn’t matter. What mattered most was that the victim was black.

Ahmaud Arbery was not hanged from a tree while the white denizens of the Georgia neighborhood enjoyed the display as a form of entertainment, as they did back in the day.

But Arbery was lynched, regardless.

Kamala Harris had it wrong in the Smollett case, but I guess that I stand corrected on her attempt to get federal anti-lynching legislation passed. She started this effort, with Cory Booker and Tim Scott, back in 2018, with the Justice for Victims of Lynching Act, and while at the time that struck me as a purely political, identity-politics move — a “solution” looking for a problem that no longer even existed — I am sad to apparently have to stand corrected.

Wikipedia describes the anti-lynching act as “a proposed bill that would classify lynching, defined as bodily injury on the basis of perceived race, color, religion or nationality, a federal hate crime in the United States. The bill, largely symbolic, aims to recognize and apologize for historical governmental failures to prevent lynching in the U.S.”

Yes, but apparently it’s not only symbolic anymore.

Wikipedia also notes that “On February 26, 2020, the Emmett Till Anti-Lynching Act, a revised version of the Justice for Victims of Lynching Act, passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 410-4.” (This was just three days after the lynching of Ahmaud Arbery in Georgia.)

To my knowledge, this federal anti-lynching legislation remains unpassed by the Senate and not signed into law by the “president.”

This federal law needs to be enacted, and we could call it the Ahmaud Arbery Anti-Lynching Act just as well.

And while I’m generally opposed to the death penalty, I can’t say that the likes of Gregory McMichael and Travis McMichael deserve to still draw breath.

The death penalty is an egregious penalty, but lynching — actual lynching, not Jussie Smollett-style “lynching” — is an egregious crime that calls for an egregious punishment.

On Tara Reade

Tara Reade

Associated Press news photo

Tara Reade does strike me as being a little off, but I don’t know if Joe Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993 or not, because I wasn’t there — and neither were you, unless you are Joe Biden or Tara Reade.

I’ve yet to weigh in on the Tara Reade affair, and that’s because one, as I’ve already documented here copiously, Repugnican Lite Hidin’ Joe Biden never was going to get my support anyway (I will not give him a penny or my vote); two, the only two people who know whether or not Biden finger-raped Reade back in 1993 are Reade and Biden; and three, generally speaking, in cases of unsettled or still-unfolding facts, I often don’t feel the need to come out with guns blazing from the get-go.

But I can say a little about the Reade thing now.

My stance on it is that it’s not entirely unlike Elizabeth Warren’s mid-January allegation that Bernie Sanders had told her during a private, one-on-one meeting that a woman couldn’t win the presidential election.

Warren, apparently via her campaign henchpeople, divulged this juicy little tidbit to CNN right before a CNN-sponsored Democratic debate so that CNN could run with the “news” story that it itself had “broken.” (That Warren’s campaign was floundering and desperate, with the Iowa caucuses just around the corner, was pure coinky-dink, I’m sure.)

CNN also used its own apparently fabricated “news” story to have one of its debate “moderators” shamelessly ask Bernie in the CNN-sponsored debate: “CNN reported yesterday — and Senator Sanders, Senator Warren confirmed in a statement — that, in 2018, you told her you did not believe that a woman could win the election. Why did you say that?”

It no longer was just a rival presidential campaign’s politically opportune allegation, you see; it magically somehow became “fact”!

In his defense, Bernie said that he had told Warren that “President” Pussygrabber would try to weaponize a female presidential candidate’s biological sex against her (um, true), not that a woman couldn’t win the presidential election. As Bernie himself said, after all, Billary Clinton (well, he calls her Hillary) won the popular vote in November 2016, so obviously a woman could win a presidential election — a woman had just won the last one.

So yes, I tend to believe Bernie over Warren. Warren already had had a slippery relationship with the truth and was politically desperate, so she had the incentive to embellish or to outright fabricate.

But, could I know for sure that Bernie didn’t say that to Warren? No. It doesn’t at all seem like him to me, but as I wasn’t fucking there and as it wasn’t reliably recorded, no one could say for sure what did or didn’t happen during that one-on-one meeting between Bernie and Warren. (Which was the beauty of it, right, Liz?)

Granted, Warren didn’t accuse Bernie of having finger-raped her, although she could have, right? I mean, no one else was there

And that’s the problem with the Reade allegation: Again, the only two who know what did or didn’t happen are Reade and Biden.

It’s absolutely true that Biden has a history of putting his hands and face all over female specimens of the species, who usually don’t look like they’re enjoying it. Here are some famous examples:

Photo taken while Biden was vice president; published by The Washington Post

Photo taken in September 2012; published by Politico

Admittedly, while there is some interesting side-eye from her two male companions, the woman in the last photo looks like she’s OK with Uncle Joe’s, um, proximity.

That said, should the vice president of the United States (and a married man) have gotten this up close and personal with females — and repeatedly so?

Is it believable that Biden finger-raped Reade? Yes, I think so.

Is it impossible that Reade would be making shit up?

No. The creepy photos above are not evidence that Biden sexually assaulted Reade with a digit or digits.

Do I find Reade to be credible?

I’ll just tell you what my gut says. My gut says that maybe the woman is not entirely stable. Just from the photo of her above, to be honest, to me, anyone who feels the need to carry a cross that is bigger than the cross that the probably mythical Jesus Christ had to bear seems to be of questionable sanity, in my book.

Oh, sure, you have the First Amendment right to wear a cross, like “President” Pussygrabber’s shiny new spokesnake does:

Photo published May 1 by The Washington Post

And I have the First Amendment right to express my belief that if you feel the need to announce to everyone you encounter that you’re a “Christian,” then you range from creepy to mentally unstable, and I know that I’d rather just not deal with you, not because I’m a vampire or a satanist who can’t stand the sight of the cross, but because in the year 2020, you apparently believe in complete and utter backasswards bullshit like Adam and Eve and the virgin-born miracle worker Jesus, whose zombification you celebrate on Easter.

Also, if you publicly wear a cross, are you communicating that your religious beliefs are the only correct ones? Are you communicating that you feel hostile to those who don’t share your religious beliefs?

And with those exposed shoulders in the photo above, isn’t Tara Reade just asking for some creepy old man to come up from behind her and put his hands on her shoulders?

OK, that was a fucking joke, but in all seriousness, Reade’s demeanor is what’s weird to me. She seems to at least somewhat enjoy her status as a Me-Tooer just a tad too much. Having been sexually victimized isn’t an occasion to try to be a media celebrity. I mean, reportedly, she has worked hard to get herself on TV, and it’s not shocking that Faux “News” of course put her on the tee-vee first and has put her on the tee-vee more than any other tee-vee outlet. (Why, it’s as though “President” Pussygrabber never was recorded in 2005 bragging about grabbing women by the pussy! But he never said that he inserted a finger, so that’s OK!)

I don’t mean that if you have been victimized you should just shut the fuck up about it. No. But at some point, trying to get as much attention as you can over your supposed past victimization just seems odd.

In the end, though, yes, it seems to me that it’s quite possible that Tara Reade is telling the truth.

Thing is, this is something that, it seems to me, we’ll never know with any certainty.

And, as I said, I never was going to vote for creepy Uncle Joe anyway.

Mostly that’s because of his center-right political positions and his long history of selling us out to his and his party’s corporate sponsors, but it’s also because someone who won’t keep his hands to himself clearly has a problem regulating his use of personal power, and someone who cannot wield his or her personal power responsibly certainly shouldn’t be sitting behind that big desk in the Oval Office.

In the end, it doesn’t matter, in terms of whether or not he should be president, whether Joe Biden is guilty as charged by Tara Reade. He already has demonstrated amply that he’s unfit, rape by finger or fingers or not.

Democratic Party joins Repugnican Party in rank voter suppression

These are both colas. Many people can’t tell the difference between the two, because the difference isn’t huge. Ditto for the Repugnican Party and the Democratic Party, both of which are comprised of voter-suppressing corporate whores.

This is some good news from The Associated Press yesterday:

The New York Democratic presidential primary must take place June 23 because canceling it would be unconstitutional and deprive withdrawn presidential candidates Bernie Sanders and Andrew Yang of proper representation at the Democratic convention, a judge ruled Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Analisa Torres in Manhattan ruled after lawyers for Sanders and Yang argued Monday that they otherwise would be harmed irreparably.

The judge said there was enough time before the primary to plan how to carry it out safely. She acknowledged that the reason it was canceled — to prevent the spread of COVID-19 — was an important state interest but said she was unconvinced it justified infringing rights, especially since every voter can use an absentee ballot. She noted that no other state had canceled its primary.

Torres wrote that removing presidential contenders from the primary ballot deprived them of votes for the Democratic Party’s nomination. She said it also diminished the delegates’ influence on the party’s platform and their ability to react to unexpected convention developments.

It also “deprived Democratic voters of the opportunity to elect delegates who could push their point of view in that forum,” she said. “The loss of these First Amendment rights is a heavy hardship.”

The Democratic members of the State’s Board of Elections voted last week to cancel the presidential primary even though New York still planned to hold its congressional and state-level primaries June 23. …

The “Democrats” of New York state aren’t done trying to stop the democratic process, though; they plan to appeal Judge Torres’ ruling. Because of course.

So know this about the members of the Democratic Party establishment: They will rail against “President” Pussygrabber & Co.’s efforts to suppress Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters, but they have no problem at all trying to help their favored candidates, such as Hidin’ Joe Biden, even if that means committing voter suppression, too.

Repugnicans don’t want you to be able to vote for a Democrat, and Democrats don’t want you to be able to vote for the “wrong” Democrats.

This is why I changed my voter registration from Democrat to independent back in 2016 and why it remains that way: The Repugnican Party and the Democratic Party are just like the Pepsi Party and the Coke Party — it can be quite difficult to distinguish which is which.
