I’m gay for Glenn Greenwald

Glenn Greenwald, sexy brainiac

I’ve been a long-time fan of Salon.com columnist Glenn Greenwald. He writes intelligent, interminable sentences and really can get into his topic. (Not that I’m a size queen, but he can write some rather long columns.)

I looked Greenwald up on Wikipedia today and discovered that he’s gay, which I had suspected, since he’s intelligent and writes long pieces comprised of interminable sentences…

Wikipedia also states that Greenwald — may I call you Glenn, Glenn? — is taken, of course, that he has a Brazilian boyfriend (Brazilian as in he lives in Brazil)… Sigh…

Greenwald is (or used to be, anyway) a lawyer, but the good kind — a civil rights and constitutional law lawyer; he uses his powers for good rather than for evil.

Anyway, I’m adding Glenn to my blog roll because he rocks.

Salon.com has some pretty shitty writers: Joan Walsh, who, if memory serves, was a die-hard Billary Clinton supporter, thinks that we all care about her every thought when she, um, demonstrated her intelligence by supporting Billary.* And Camille Paglia — Oh. My. God. Why do they publish this narcissist’s crap? She defends Sarah Palin-Quayle as some great American who got a raw deal and she repeatedly goes into great detail about some obscure recording artist whom she likes. Who the fuck cares?

Glenn — whom I like also because he’s a fellow Generation X’er (as opposed to the aforementioned Walsh and Paglia, who apparently are baby boomers and whose boomerian gross overestimation of their talent and worth is glaringly apparent in their writings) — is one of the writers who make Salon.com worth visiting. He does write on some topics that don’t interest me, but when he does write about a topic that interests me, he really nails it. (I just wanted to use the verb “nail” in talking about Glenn…)

And, I’m pretty sure that Glenn is Jewish, so I can always point to him — along with Jake Gyllenhaal, Sacha Baron Cohen, Jon Stewart, “Saturday Night Live’s” Andy Samberg** and many other Jews — as JILFs

That means that I’m not anti-Semitic for having a problem with the Israelis who indiscriminately and disproportionately are slaughtering Palestinians as I type this sentence — right?

*Barack Obama clearly was the lesser of the two evils, especially after Billary started to out-Repugnican John McCainosaurus in her desperate bid for the Democratic presidential nomination.

**This video of Samberg in which he gets Brokeback with the president of Iran is pretty fucking funny, as are this one and this one featuring Samberg.

On proportion (and the lack thereof)

The Associated Press reports that thus far more than 360 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been slaughtered by the Israelis and some 1,400 Palestinians have been wounded in Israel’s latest massacre.

The AP notes that in the entire year of 2008, 17 — seventeen — Israelis were killed by those rocket attacks from Gaza (presumably by Hamas) that we hear so fucking much about as the excuse for the current bloodbath that the Israelis initiated a few days ago.

The Israelis’ current massacre has the full backing of the mass-murderous Bush regime, of course. Because, as I’ve said time and again, it’s only “terrorism” when an Arab or a Muslim does it.

P.S. I love these excerpts from a column by Salon.com columnist Glenn Greenwald and I thought that I’d share:

Opinions about the Israeli-Palestinian dispute are so entrenched that any single outbreak of violence is automatically evaluated through a pre-existing lens, shaped by one’s typically immovable beliefs about which side bears most of the blame for the conflict generally or “who started it.”

Still, any minimally decent human being — even those who view the world through the most blindingly pro-Israeli lens possible, the ones who justify anything and everything Israel does, and who discuss these events with a bottomless emphasis on the primitive (though dangerous) rockets lobbed by Hamas into Southern Israel but without even mentioning the ongoing four-decades brutal occupation or the recent, grotesquely inhumane blockade of Gaza — would find the slaughter of scores of innocent Palestinians to be a horrible and deeply lamentable event.

Yes, if you had any sort of a conscience whatsofuckingever, you would. Another excerpt:

One can travel from the farthest right fringe of the GOP to the heart of the Democratic Party leadership and hear exactly the same thing: Israel is always right. Israel must not be criticized. Israel never bears any blame. Any action taken by Israel is justified.

No matter the situation, that just gets repeated over and over like some hypnotic bipartisan mantra. Meanwhile, American citizens overwhelmingly — [by] 71 percent — want their government to be “even-handed” in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Yet that view is simply ignored, disregarded, not even viable for any American mainstream political leader to express.

Yup; it’s a problem. Where it comes to same-sex marriage and treating the Palestinians with even-handedness, the Repugnicans and the Democrats are in lockstep. Israel’s shit just doesn’t stink. The Holocaust, you know! The Holocaust!

P.P.S. This AP news story puts the number of Israelis killed by rocket attacks thus far this year at 19, and the number of Israelis killed in the past few days’ fighting at four. This news story also puts the number of Palestinian dead at 364, with the United Nations saying that at least 62 of those were civilians.

Ask Uncle Barack!

President-elect Barack Obama’s at-least-mildly-creepy shadow-presidency website, change.gov, is taking questions!, I was informed via e-mail today.

I just submitted these two questions:

  • I’m a gay man who gave your campaign hundreds of dollars. You have invited homophobe Rick Warren to appear at your inauguration. How about you invite Rush Limbaugh to perform “Barack the Magic Negro“? C’mon, now! In the spirit of “inclusion” and all!
  • Are you going to treat the Israeli-Palestinian conflict with SOME degree of even-handedness and fairness or are you going to kiss Israeli ass, thus further enraging the Arab world and further putting the United States at risk for terrorist attacks?

There’s a character-length restriction on each question or my questions would have been longer. I’d have asked the president-elect, who calls himself a Christian, how many Arab babies Jesus would be OK with slaughtering, since the president-elect has not, to my knowledge, uttered a single fucking word about the continued carnage in occupied Palestine, but has only parroted the bullshit propaganda about Israel’s right to defend itself, even though Israelis kill far more Palestinians than vice-versa and even though world opinion is against Israel’s latest massacre of Arabs, which is made possible by the support of the United States.

P.S. Actually, even had I worded those questions “nicely,” I doubt that the president-elect’s team would touch either one.

Obama’s not about to disinvite Prick Warren to the inauguration, which has been completely ruined for me, and Obama picked Zionist-ass-licking Billary Clinton as his secretary of state. Billary has been paid big bucks by the Zionist lobby to eat Palestinian babies for lunch.

Fucking face it if you haven’t already: We’re in for another four to eight years of a milquetoast, Clintonesque “Democratic” White House administration…

P.P.S. To be fair, I just read this in a news story:

Even as the attack continued into its third day [today], with a Palestinian death toll topping 300 and Israel threatening a ground invasion, Obama had yet to say a word about the crisis, on the grounds that President George W. Bush (who has also been silent) must take the lead.

Hmmm… I suppose that I can see where Obama wouldn’t want to create confusion by making a public statement, I suppose — as he and his handlers say incessantly, the United States has only one president at a time (presidential puppeteer Dick Cheney notwithstanding…) — but it sure would be nice to know where Obama stands on these current events.

Could he not issue a disclaimer acknowledging that he has yet to take office and then make a statement? Would an audacious man of character who won’t shut up about “change” and “hope” remain silent on a humanitarian crisis like this?

P.P.P.S.: So people visiting change.gov get to vote on the questions that have been submitted.

Thus far, 85 voted that they like my first question involving Prick Warren, while 50 don’t like it. My guess is that these latter losers are Obamabots who just don’t want Obama to look bad — at all — no matter how wrong he might be. That and/or they don’t like my use of the word “Negro,” but I didn’t make up the fucking song title. (I also didn’t make up the word “Obamabot.” I can’t remember where I saw it. But I wish that I had coined it.)

Also thus far, 54 voted that they like my question about kissing Israeli ass while 40 don’t like the question, probably because of my indelicate use of the words “kiss Israeli ass,” because using the term “kiss ass” is much, much worse than, say, the mass murder that the Israelis are committing right now. We have to be “nice,” now!

Anyway, I’m just really fucking surprised that apparently neither of my two questions has been yanked from the Obamabots’ website…
